In the 1940s, Scott Field was known as the parent radio school of the Army Air Forces Training Command. Now, Scott AFB hosts the Air Force Communications Agency. The Air Force Communications Agency has a long and proud history. The Agency traces its roots to 1938 and the organization of the Army Airways Communication System. The mission of the Air Force Communications & Information History Office is to document the history of the Agency and the Air Force communications and information community.

The Air Force Communications Agency's Visitors Center displays historical communications equipment and items of interest. The center is located in the atrium of the Lt. Gen. Grant Building (Bldg. 1700), Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The center was officially opened Oct. 16, 1989, as part of the building dedication ceremony. The public is encouraged to donate personal memorabilia such as photographs, documents and small items associated with communications and the agency's heraldry. Please contact the AFCA office of Public Affairs, phone (618) 229-5690. Tours are also available through Public Affairs. You can take a virtual tour by following this link:
