BSA
NEWS ALERT - BSA now requires that all unit leaders be fully trained in
order to re-register. Most training can be accomplished
on-line. Follow the BSA Online Learning connection on our LINKS
page and start training today.
BSA NEWS ALERT - Effective June 1, 2010:
- Youth Protection Training is required for
all registered volunteers.
- New leaders are required to take Youth
Protection Training before they submit their application for
registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be
submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service
with youth begins.
- Youth Protection Training must be taken
every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection Training record is
not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be
reregistered.
TROOP NEWS
Their will be a Troop meeting on Thursday, August, 5, 2010 at 7:00
p.m. The focus of this meeting will be on preparing for the
upcoming program year.
The 2010 - 2011 Scout year starts Thursday, September 9, 2010 with our first regularly scheduled Troop meeting at 7:00 pm.
Their will be a Court of Honor (award ceremony) on September 16, 2010.
MERIT BADGE OPPORTUNITIES
New Merit Badge Course - The Crosswinds Marsh Wetlands Interpretive
Preserve is offering Insect Study merit badge on Saturday, September
18, 2010 and Tracking merit badge on October 9, 2010. Click HERE for the informational letter.
INVENTING Merit Badge - On June 30, 2010, the Boy Scouts of America, in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT), formally launched the Inventing Merit Badge. This new, exciting
merit badge is now available for all Scouts to earn. Requirements are available
HERE. Your webmaster is a merit badge counselor for this brand new badge.
